Julie started fundraising around 2006 when her youngest son was in the Air Cadets. It started with karaoke, spooky wooky nights at halloween, gangsters and molls night, quiz nights, BBQ’s and more.

Julie regularly holds fundraisers in Crosby, Liverpool City Centre, Bootle Town Hall which are often sold out. The amounts raised are anything from £2000 – £6000 depending on match funding and auction prizes.  She also holds fundraisers at Ayuthaya a  local Thai restaurant on a monthly basis and these can easily raise £500 plus on a Sunday afternoon, and are so popular they are normally sold out within days of being promoted.

Her biggest Ball was held in the beautiful Cunard Building on the Liverpool Waterfront. It is such an iconic building. The evening raised a fabulous £30.000 for Alzheimers which is close to Julie’s heart following the deaths of her parents in 2014 seven weeks apart. The evening was in partnership with Signature Group and sponsored by Bulk Cargo Ltd Liverpool.

In May 2017 Julie was invited to a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace as a thank you for recognition of her fundraising.

In 2018 Julie was a finalist in Merseyside Woman of the Year,  a finalist in the Liverpool Echo Awards and also the Positive Awards.

In 2019 she won Liverpool Lifestyle Fundraiser of the Year Award.

2020 was meant to be a huge year for Julie as she has ventured out and has set up Julie Lawson Community Events CIC.

However, Covid 19 had other ideas.

Once the restrictions that covid has brought, have been relaxed, Julie fully intends to get back into the community to help socially isolated and lonely people attend her many functions. This will help their mental wellbeing and promote an active happy life.
